SteveNote Expo is a flash game in the genre of "News-games" - small games that raise awareness about an issue or a product and which are published due to a current event.

Meanwhile, SteveNote Expo is an example of viral marketing too - that is, the idea of using pre-existing social networks to publish a message or a piece of news by word-of-mouth or mail-to-mail and letting the customers replicate it by themselves.

The assignment was our own. The purpose was to raise awareness of KathArt Interactive in general, and secondarily to showcase our new game engine for interested buyers worldwide.

The essence of the new game engine is that it combines flash and real 3D. A combination not many other companies had done very well when the game was launched.

The idea of the game was to make a plot based on the media frenzy surrounding Apple's launch of new products.

Every year Apple's charismatic CEO Steve Jobs takes on his black turtleneck sweater and go on stage at Moscone Center in San Francisco, where he makes one of his famous keynote speeches, and presents the company's new products.

- And every year Apple fans and the press in the days leading up to the event a massive bombardment of more or less likely rumors about what Steve has in his sleeve.

In the game will play Steve Jobs. You run around Apple's headquarters, where you must gather all the products that you must present in the keynote speech, while you must avoid the prying journalists.

The game used the rumors about new products (and also introduced a few qualified guesses), which meant that it easily was made an element in dialogues on forums, Mac-sites, gadget sites and in the press in general, when the story was about Apple and the upcoming products.

The game was launched three days before the keynote. When Steve Jobs went on stage:

- More than 100,000 unique users had tried the game.

- The game had been mentioned in all the leading Danish and American Mac and gadget sites and in a sea of blogs and forums.

- Users of the game began to record themselves while they carried out the game on time, after which they posted the video clip on YouTube.

In the weeks after the launch, we were contacted by a number of new international customers. At the moment, we are in dialogue with them about new games based on our game engine.
